Online Services for Online Learners
The WebCampus staff has been working hard to provide the best possible engineering, management, and computer science education for our online students.  This section describes some of the services that are available to meet this goal.

Web Conferences for Greater Student-to-Instructor and Student-to-Student Interaction
To help promote the level of interaction between students and faculty, web conferencing technologies were introduced in 2004.   In addition to using this application to conduct real-time and recorded lectures, WebCampus instructors often find new ways of integrating this technology into their classes.  Depending upon the content of the class, individual and team presentations are sometimes used.  Students can also request web conference time with their classmates, allowing them a communicate and collaborate, and prepare for upcoming assignments.  Learning to function in virtual teams during WebCampus courses has been especially relevant for students who found themselves working in virtual teams at their jobs. Finally, look for other second-generation web technologies (particularly pod-casting) to become part of the ever-increasing online learning toolbox at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Guidance
WebCampus team has made every effort to simplify administrative procedures that apply to online students, and create new support infrastructure where needed.  Much of this effort can be seen in the resources which have been brought together in these pages.  One example is the online student guide, which has been written especially for WebCampus students in mind.  Covering everything from how to register for classes online to retrieving forgotten passwords, this guide is useful for navigating the most common administrative issues that students face.

Every student must complete a “study plan” in order to graduate.  Students can take the mystery out of the study plan process by using the Study Plan Preparation feature in this site.

The growth in the number of WebCampus courses that have been conducted since 2000 has been staggering by anyone’s standards.  Yet sometimes these classes become full and some students must inevitably be turned away.  An online waiting list is now available so that students can reserve a seat in a full online class should one become available.

For students with many questions about Stevens in general or WebCampus operations in particular, our Frequently-Asked Questions database contains numerous answers to help guide those in need of assistance.

Finally, for those who are interested in beginning their studies at Stevens through WebCampus, our What You’ll Need sections covers the essentials of applying, registering, and logging into online classes.
