Industry Professor Michael Pennotti
Michael Pennotti is Industry Professor and SDOE Fellow in the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management of the Charles V. Schaefer School of Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the faculty of the Center for Management Development at Rutgers University. At Bell Laboratories, he worked on the design, analysis, and operational improvement of three generations of anti-submarine warfare systems for the United States Navy. He was Director of Advanced ASW Concepts at Bell Labs. As Quality Director for AT&T Business Communications Systems, he led the $3.5 billion unit to a Baldrige site visit in 1996. As Human Resources Vice President for Lucent's Enterprise Networks Group, he helped develop and execute people strategies to support doubling that business over a three-year period.
As Vice President for Quality at Avaya, he established the initial business processes for the $8 billion spin-off from Lucent. He is a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering, a senior member of both the IEEE and the American Society for Quality, and a trustee of Caldwell College. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York, a B.E.E. from Manhattan College, and is a graduate of the AEA/Stanford Executive Institute for the management of high-technology companies.
