Dr. James Hirschorn obtained his Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Toronto. He has held academic positions in Mathematics at various institutions internationally, including University of Helsinki, University of Vienna and Kobe University in Japan. His work in academia included important contributions to the field of Set Theory, a branch of Mathematical Logic. This work, including contributions to a better understanding of Cantor’s Continuum Hypothesis, was published in a number of internationally recognized mathematical journals. He has also lectured in courses on Set Theory and undergraduate level mathematics.

More recently Dr. Hirschorn has completed a M.Sc. in Financial Engineering (MFE) at New York University. He has extensive experience in computer programming predating his academic career, including a 16 month internship at IBM Canada as a programmer/analyst during the course of his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. Since graduating from NYU he has specialized in the implementation of financial applications in the C++ language.
