Dr. Alexander Sutin is a Research Professor for the Maritime Security Laboratory, Stevens Institute of Technology.
Sutin worked for the Russian Academy of Science until 1997 when he joined Stevens. He has experience in various areas of acoustics, and has published about 80 papers in referred journal. Sutin also holds ten USSR and four US patents.

Areas of Sutin’s research include:
• Physical and nonlinear acoustics - experimental investigations and theoretical interpretation.
• Underwater acoustics and acoustical oceanography. Passive acoustic methods of port protection from underwater and surface threats.
• Interaction of the acoustic waves with cracks and damage. Applications of nonlinear acoustics to Nondestructive Evaluation.
• Time Reversal Acoustics and its application in medicine, Nondestructive Evaluation, land mine detection.

Dr. Sutin holds a Ph.D. and a Masters degree from Gorky State University in Russia. He also has a Dr.Sc degree from Acoustical Institute of USSR Academy of Science, Moscow.
